The two most famous Barbera wines are called Barbera d'Alba and Barbera d'Asti. Barbera d'Alba wines are typically more full-bodied, whereas Barbera d'Asti will have its trademark youthful, purple colour. Both are rich in flavour with low tannins and a food-friendly high acidity. First produced in 1969 the soils of La Morra provide this Barbera d'Alba with a sense of elegance.
Aged for a few months in oak barrels. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a bright dark red hue. Elevated ripe cherry and dark raspberry aromas mix with red liquorice, fresh herb and light spicy earth notes. The palate has a vibrant flavour profile of freshly crushed cherries, red raspberries and red liquorice which are underpinned by subtle notions of inky earth and infusions of fresh herbs. Finishes with a burst of fresh crunchy like acidity. Polished tannins with a long vibrant red fruited aftertaste.
Delicious drinking over the next 3-4 years.
