2018 Pierro Chardonnay

Owner and manager of Pierro Estate, Dr Mike Peterkin, has a viticultural pedigree second to none. Besides making one of Margaret Rivers best Chardonnay’s, Mike also produced the first Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend in Australia.

Fermented and matured in French oak (50% new and 50% one year old) on lees for 12 months.

Brilliant pale straw in appearance with a gleaming tinge of green around the edges and a watery hue. Steaming out of the glass are alluring scents of white peaches, fleshy nectarines and dried honey backed by biscuity oak with elements of spicy nougat and subtle struck match stick notes ensuing. Rich and mouthfilling yet finessed, the palate is layered with fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits which combine with dried honey characters over a back drop of light toasty oak, biscuity nougat nuances and infusions of gun flint. Superb length and balance with an aftertaste of exceptional persistence that builds texturally as it lingers.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
