2018 Penley Estate McLaren Vale Project Shiraz

Sourced from the Hickinbotham Clarendon vineyard this Shiraz underwent 30% whole bunch fermentation and was matured in French oak (10% new) for 6 months. Impenetrable black core with a deep bright dark purple hue. Scented top notes of ripe blueberry, liquorice and hint of blackberry overlay vanillin cedar and fresh herb infusions. Bright and velvety the elegant, medium bodied palate serves up spicy blueberry and subtle liquorice flavours with traces of vanillin cedar, light earth and spicy herbs also present. Good freshness, finely knit, well integrated tannins and a savoury blue fruited finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
