Piebald was first released as a Shiraz Viognier in 2003, with the fruit sourced from vineyards in McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. The wine has evolved to be 100% Adelaide Hills Shiraz, made in the cool climate Syrah style. The Piebald fruit is sourced from Yacca Paddock vineyard, owned by Scott Hicks and Kerry Heysen-Hicks.
Midnight black core with a bright dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced liquorice and black cherry aromas meld into smoky vanillin cedar, dried meat and blackpepper notes. Medium to full bodied and packed with deep dark fruits, rich blackberry and liquorice flavours flood the mouth and are surprisingly opulent in their feel for an Adelaide Hills Shiraz. Elements of vanillin cedar, light scorched earth and pepper sit subtlety underneath. Very polished tannins. Finishes lengthy and refined with plenty of dark to black fruit shining through.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
