Formerly known simply as Mr Riggs Shiraz, this wine has been re-branded J.F.R. beginning with this year's release as a tribute to winemaker Ben Riggs father. Sourced from three great McLaren Vale vineyards the wine was matured for 20 months in predominately French oak (80%) with the balance in American oak of which overall 35% was new oak. From the outstanding 2018 vintage this is without a doubt a step up on the highly decorated 2017 vintage that included a platinum medal for Best in show at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

An exceptional McLaren Vale Shiraz and in comparison to industry icons such as Penfolds Grange, a serious bargain. Not to be missed!

Magnificent depth of colour, saturated inky black at its core with a near equally deep dark red black hue. A potpourri of sublime aromatics soars out of the glass lead by ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum and subtle blueberry fruits. Subtle dark chocolate, vanillin cedar, faint earth and spice notes then follow. Drenched in lavish black fruits that include ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum the palate is enormously rich and possesses a spiralling out of control power wave of flavour that is seemingly endless. Perfectly integrated vanillin oak, traces of dark chocolate, light earth and spice sit underneath. There’s a sleek, velvet like feel to the fruit yet lurking below is a firm matrix of tannins that provides exceptional structure for long term cellaring. Long and lush with the fruit taking centre stage on a blockbuster finish. Wow!
