2018 Mont-Redon Reserve Cotes du Rhone

One of Chateauneuf-du-Pape’s largest estate’s with almost 100 hectares under vine, Mont-Redon also produce a great value Cotes du Rhone. The 2018 a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah is made from purchased fruit, sees no oak and there’s a touch of carbonic maceration for lift and freshness.
Midnight black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Elevated black cherry and liquorice scents are overlaid by notions of graphite, incense, provincial herbs and blackpepper. Mid weighted the palate features juicy black raspberry and liquorice fruits which meld into scorched earth, dried herbs and blackpepper. Soft fleshy mouthfeel with very polished, smooth tannins. Elegant, medium length aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
