Located in Tanunda in the Barossa, Linke remains a 5th generation family owned producer. Their two vineyards - the "Stonewell Block" on the western side of the Barossa, and the "Dorrien" which is on the valley floor, consistently produce top notch fruit for renowned labels (including St Halletts and Langmeil). Since 2002, a portion of fruit has been reserved for the family's own label utilising vines that have an average age of 20 years old. Maturation is American oak, 90% used and 10% new.

After an indifferent 2017 vintage, the 2018 Linke Shiraz sees a return to top form, its rich, decadent black fruits will have the Linke fan club in raptures.

Impenetrable inky black in colour with a deep dark red black hue. Soaring out of the glass are heady black plum, liquorice and morello cherry fruits followed by vanillin oak, dried herbs and spice that show an Amarone like intensity. Extraordinarily lush and rich, a thick coating of black fruits saturates the palate with a liqueur like concentration. Voluptuous black plum, liquorice and black as well as morello cherry flavours lead the way overshadowing a chocolatey vanillin oak and spicy dried herb back drop. Velvet smooth tannins. Incredible power and opulence concluding with a long hedonistic finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
