The JC’s Own label is the personal project of Massena winemaker Jaysen Collins with the labels inspired by street art he sees in his travels. The fruit for this wine is sourced from a single vineyard located in the Barossa Valley sub region of Greenock. Aged for 25 months in 1 year old low toast French oak barriques a portion of pressings was included to provide additional structure.
Impenetrable pitch black in colour with a very deep black bright dark red hue. Soaring out of the glass are ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice aromas closely followed by lightly toasted vanillin cedar, hints of scorched earth and spice. Dense and brooding, the blockbuster palate is brimming with rich dark plum, blackberry juice and liquorice flavours which have an inky feel yet also put on an incredible display of opulence. Elements of vanillin cedar, subtle scorched earth and spice also chime in. Magnificent power and concentration with ripe sturdy tannins providing the required muscle to back it up. Has ample freshness and a prodigiously long aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc. 14%
