2018 Hentley Farm The Beast Shiraz

Matured in French oak, 60% of which was new and the balance second use, for a period of 22 months. Spectacular depth of colour featuring an inky black core and a very deep dark red black hue. Exuding out of the glass are brooding aromatics of blackberry, liquorice and dark plum which meld into smoky vanillin cedar, hints of blueberry and peppered earth notes. Rich and opulent yet also possessing a remarkable freshness, the palate is brimming with glossy textured blackberry, dark plum and liquorice fruits which are supported by a robust yet polished tannin structure and focused acidity. Lying underneath are subtle elements of spicy vanillin cedar, earthy graphite and pepper. Excellent power with a long aftertaste that has a blueberry freshness to it.
