2018 Heathcote Estate Single Vineyard Shiraz

The 2018 vintage in Heathcote produced wines of intense concentration and power. A warm and dry spring led into a classic Heathcote summer, warm days and cool nights. The resultant wines are archetypal Heathcote, darkly coloured, abundant fruit and depth of flavour with seamless structure and balance.

Matured for 11 months if French oak of which 20% was new. Impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Elevated scents of liquorice, blackberry juice and plum meld into spicy vanillin cedar, subtle earthy fennel notes and pepper. Rich blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits flood the mouth overlaying a back drop of fennel, vanillin oak, light scorched earth and spice. Opulent yet refined with superb power. Velvet smooth yet structured tannins concluding long, rich and sumptuous.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
