Fantastic depth of colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a deep bright dark red black hue. Freshly crushed blackberry, plum and liquorice aromas overlay vanillin cedar, fennel and pepper notes. Medium to full bodied, rich juicy flavours of inky blackberries, crushed plums and liquorice are underpinned by a thread of vibrant acidity with earthy vanillin cedar and pepper characters on the back palate. Excellent concentration and depth. Dry, inky finish with slightly chalky tannins and a long juicy bright dark fruit aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews…
There’s an increasing move up to the Eden Valley for Head Wines. This is 80% Eden.
High perfume, blueberry coulis, blackberry, spice and sage, ironstone. Medium-bodied, succulent, intense fruit of perfume and weight, dark chocolate tannin, savoury elements, very long fresh finish. Super vintage. Puppy like in enthusiasm as at now. Almost 94 points, though that’s kind of arbitrary.
