2018 Fraser Gallop Estate Parterre Cabernet Sauvignon

Fraser Gallop’s Parterre Cabernet takes its inspiration from some of the great wines of Bordeaux displaying their finesse and structure whilst still allowing the Margaret River fruit to shine. The outstanding 2018 vintage is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, 3% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc matured for 18 months in a combination of new and second use French oak.

Powerfully fruited yet seamless and elegant, this is quintessential Margaret River Cabernets

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a bright dark red hue. Expressive aromatics of red to black currant and mulberry flow from the glass followed by cedary tobacco notes, hints of earth and bay leaf. The medium bodied palate is layered with rich red to black currant and ripe mulberry fruits that show both terrific drive as well as finesse. Subtle vanillin cedar, tobacco, earth and spicy bay leaf characters seamlessly chime in on the back half. Calm and smooth in its feel it has polished fine grained tannins which lead into a long elegant finish.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.

Supple intensity, concentration of flavour without a gram of weight, the length of flavour possessed only by very healthy, perfectly ripe and balanced grapes. What a gloriously seamless wine, continuing the proud legacy of Parterre. Drink by 2041.

Sporting a slightly different label now, with the house in a fetching sort of purple. The splash of colour works well. Here we have 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, 3% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc all grown on the estate at Wilyabrup.
Blackberry and boysenberry, sage and mint, fetching floral perfume, baking spice and vanilla custard oak. It’s medium-bodied with pleasing density of fruit, plenty of fine grained graphite tannin, cool acidity, so svelte and composed, with a long pencilly finish. Needs a little more time for the oak to integrate, but the feel of it, its balance and shape, mark it out as an excellent wine. Drink 2023-2033+
