Other Reviews....
A top note of pomegranate can be found on the red currant, earth and attractively spicy aromas. There is better energy as well as better delineation to the relatively refined bitter cherry-inflected finish. Lovely.

Revisited in bottle, Fourrier's 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes mingles aromas of cherries, berries and cassis with hints of soil and warm spices, framed by a deft application of glossy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and gourmand, with a ripe core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids, it has turned out very nicely in the generous style of the vintage.

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes felt a little too mature on the nose, the precocious red fruit laced with crème de cassis and fig aromas; I would like more delineation here. The palate is fleshy and ripe on the entry, but compared to Fourrier’s other 2018s, this comes across a tad monotone on the finish. Let’s see how it turns out in bottle.

From 12 plots from all round the village. Sound mid purple colour. The nose is very ripe though, complex aromatics with very ripe strawberries and then some saline notes. Complex, unusual and very long. Trying to work this out. I suspect it will be first rate
