Daniel Bouland’s Corcelette wines come from pure, sandy, granitic soils which produce wines with greater perfume and finer, rounder tannins than those on Morgon’s more schist influenced terroirs. The fruit for this wine comes from his younger vines, with an average age of 60 years, and it is whole bunch fermented and matured in very old foudre’s.

Excellent depth of colour displaying an opaque black dark red core and a bright deep purple hue. Blossoming from the glass are pretty aromatics of violets, ripe cherries and hint of blueberries that a have a perfumy like fragrance to them. Smoky clove, earthy dried herbs and spice act as an overlay. Light across the palate yet possessing rich red cherry, strawberry and dark cherry fruits in abundance which provide the wine with delicious up front appeal. Subtle infusions of clove, provincial herbs, light earthy incense characters and spice also chime in for added interest. Quite juicy in its feel with good bright acidity underlying the fruit. Finely integrated tannin framework finishing with plenty of power on the long savoury aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
