Certified organic this world class Bordeaux style blend is made up of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec aged in 50% new French oak for a period of 15 months. Superb colour displaying a dense inky black core and a very deep bright dark red black hue. Nosing reveals a fragrant mix of violets and bay leaf overlaying ripe red to black currants, mulberry, cigar box, black olive and spicy dried herb notes. Rich red to black currant and mulberry fruits are layered across the palate and are backed by firm yet refined graphite like tannins and fresh structured acidity. Elements of cedar, tobacco, subtle earthy black olives and spicy bay leaf chime in to provide additional complexity. Elegant, yet ripe, structured and powerful it finishes slightly dryish and remarkably long.
Cellar 10-15 years.
New label. Looks more like the Vanya offering now. I like it.
Exquisitely perfumed and balanced Cabernet of perfect proportion and weight. Flowers, cherry, dark chocolate, spicy biscuit and lead pencils. Depth of fruit and concentration, yet still comes over as svelte and fine, with freshness and fragrance, earthy bass notes, a rich seam of graphite tannin, and a long resonant finish. It’s a sensational vintage for Cullen Cabernet. Drink 2023-2048.
