Over the past twenty years, Hobbs and his team at Viña Cobos have dedicated themselves to seek out, study, and develop vineyard sites in the two premier growing regions of Mendoza: Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. Luján de Cuyo is fed by the snow-melt of the Andes through the Mendoza River. High altitudes range from 945 - 1,100m and the soils are alluvial, with a subsoil of clay, sand, silt and rock.
Superb depth of colour displaying an impenetrable pitch black core with a very deep bright dark red black tinged hue. Intense violet, cassis, black cherry and liquorice scents morph into chocolatey vanillin oak, blueberry pie and spice notes. Rich and seductive, the palate is oozing with opulent blackcurrant, black cherry, blueberry and chocolate bullet fruit underpinned by toasty vanillin cedar, subtle earth and spice. Good balanced acidity provides vibrancy, whilst velvet like yet sturdy tannins gives the wine its structure. Outstanding power with a long lavish, plushly textured aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
