Valle Secreto are a small producer with 36 Ha of low cropping vines (mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Carmenere) They’re committed to producing wines from varieties which “express their potential with the local climate and special characteristic of the soil they are in.” Not that the Chileans don’t believe some places are better than others to grow grapes. 'Alto Cachapoal' is located in the newly designated (although still voluntary) Andes geographic zone and is warmer and drier than the coastal regions, and has greater diurnal temperature variation than vineyards on the wide valley floor.

Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep dark red black hue. Elevated blackcurrant scents infused with tobacco and dried herbs overlay black olive and spicy vanillin cedar notes. Medium to full bodied and still quite youthful the palate serves up rich red to black currant fruit over subtle vanillin cedar, tobacco and spicy dried herb characters. Good balanced fresh acidity and finely grained tannins provide the framework. Medium to long aftertaste with red to black currant fruit to the fore.
Cellar 3-4 years.
Alc. 14.5%
