Pitch black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Intense aniseed, fennel and ripe plum aromas overlay smoky oak, a subtle meatiness and spicy pepper notes. Medium to full in body, slippery and seductive, the palate is layered with rich spicy dark plum, liquorice and fennel flavours which sit over smoky cedar, subtle dried herb and light pepper. Slightly dryish finish with a lick of bright acidity, velvety tannins and a medium to long aftertaste.

Other Reviews….
It’s a nice word ‘Schist’. This wine is Schist, but it’s not schist.
Spicy greenery of whole bunch, truffle, blackberry, dried herb and flowers, a wee bit of camphor. Medium to full-bodied, fine grainy tannin, a whole lot of spice, saline and savoury stuff in among fruit of almost Ribena-like intensity. Lovely grip and chalkiness through the finish, and more of that intense blackcurrant trailing along. It’s very Eden Valley, but with Torzi fingerprints all over it. Drink 2019-2024+
