The most elegant of the Standish quartet, this Northern Rhone inspired Shiraz matches smoky meat like elements against imposing fruit richness and power. Spectacular inky black dark red colour with a very deep bright dark red black hue. Powerful and inviting aromatics of spicy dark plum and liquorice laced with smoky clove, dried meats, fennel and vanillin cedar stream through the olfactory senses. Some earth and pepper notes are also evident. Plush in its feel and blessed with extravagant richness, the palate is flooded with a luscious dark plum, blackberry, liquorice and blueberry fruit profile that’s underpinned by a firmly built, muscular tannin structure. Complexing nuances of subtle fennel, clove, smoky vanillin cedar, some meatiness and spicy blackpepper then move in. Opulent but grippy on the finish it boasts outstanding intensity and has a seriously long aftertaste.
Cellar 10-15 years.
Alc. 14.9%

Other Reviews.....
Extraordinary fragrance and complexity really sets this apart, as does the very cleverly pitched ripeness that has impressive impact, without stepping over the mark. The blackberries and spices, raspberries and sweet florals lead to a palate that has a fresh array of intense fruit. A great and unique single-vineyard shiraz and a wine with phenomenal depth of flavor, delivered with such balance and grace. Drink or hold.
