Pumpa is Sons of Eden's tribute to one of the pioneers of Eden Valley viticulture, Len Pumpa. Some previous vintages have been labelled as Cabernet Shiraz, however, the 2017 has a much higher proportion of Cabernet in the blend being made up of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Shiraz meaning that it can be labelled as Cabernet Sauvignon. Maturation took place in a mix of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 15 months.

A gorgeous Eden Valley Cabernet that’s rich, fleshy and expansive yet remarkably refined and polished.

Dense midnight black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Sailing out of the glass are blackcurrant and liquorice scents that are laced with hints of bay leaf followed by some complexing vanillin cedar, dried tobacco and spicy herb notes. Medium to full bodied with a very expansive feel, the palate is swamped with red to black currant and liquorice flavours which overlay cedary tobacco characters, spicy dried herbs and infusions of bay leaf. Despite the expressive nature of the fruit the wine still retains a very elegant structure with sturdy yet polished tannins providing a great framework. Excellent length with a long refined aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
