The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language. Established in 1980 by leading South Australian viticulturalists Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask, the Pertaringa vineyards located in the foothills behind McLaren Vale have consistently produced rich, full flavoured value for money reds.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced blackpepper infused scents of dark plum, blackberry and liquorice rise out of the glass followed by smoky vanillin cedar and traces of spicy black olives. Bursting with rich fruit the full bodied palate also possesses great underlying structure. The mouth is swamped with blackpepper laced ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours which sit over a backdrop of smoky vanillin cedar, subtle black olive and spice elements. Velvet like yet sturdy tannins, well balanced acidity and a long peppery aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
