Established in 1996 by Paul and Jennifer Champion the Mermerus Pinot Noir is produced from a single vineyard in the Geelong sub region of Bellarine Peninsula. The fruit was hand picked from low yielding vines (1.8 tonnes per acre), open fermented, basket pressed and matured in French oak barriques for 12 months.

Perfumed, supple and seductive this is a superb Bellarine Peninsula Pinot that over delivers for its price.

Deep bright dark red core with black tinged edges and a vibrant red hue. Sailing out of the glass are enchanting aromatics of violets, ripe dark cherries and strawberries laced with anise. Subtle gamey forest floor, spicy cedar and fresh herb notes follow on to complete a very perfumed sniff. Irresistibly delicious, the palate features ripe cherry and strawberry flavours within a supple mouthfeel. Underscoring the savoury fruit is traces of anise, forest floor characters and subtle spicy dried herbs. Velvety tannins finishing with good freshness. Excellent power wave with a long and very moreish aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
