2017 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge
Domaine Tempier is Bandol’s most well known estate and has been run by the Peyraud family since 1936. Blended from a number of different vineyards this wine is made predominately from Mourvedre with some Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan also included.
Totally opaque black dark purple colour with a dark purple hue. Intense aromas of ripe black cherries and liquorice intermingle with black raspberry, graphite, fresh herb infusions, scorched earth, incense and spice. Densely fruited yet at the same time bright and fresh, the palate is littered with rich black cherry and liquorice flavours which sit atop a background of earth, subtle black olives, dried herbs and spice. Slightly chewy tannins with beautiful fresh acidity and a long yet stern aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
