The 2016 Margaret has taken on a significant price hike as Woodlands seek to ‘re-position’ the label amongst Margaret River’s hierarchy. Produced from a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 16% Malbec it was matured for 18 months in French oak of which 50% was new. Midnight black dark red colour with a bright dark red hue. A very perfumed bouquet of red to blackcurrant, ripe mulberry and subtle violets drifts through the nostrils framed by vanillin cedar with trailing subtle earthy tobacco and spicy herb notes. Medium bodied with a refined supple feel to the red to blackcurrant and ripe mulberry fruit, dusty vanillin cedar elements, earth, light tobacco and spicy dried herbs follow on. The very polished, seamlessly integrated tannin structure is in perfect balance with the fruit. Excellent length with a long elegant finish of ripe red and black currant, mulberry, vanillin cedar, earth, spicy tobacco and dried herbs.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc. 13.5%
