Springflat Shiraz, along with Alan’s Cabernet, is one of two wines Wild Duck Creek Estate was founded on. Originally a single vineyard wine, Springflat Shiraz is now a blend of three vineyards; two in the north on Cambrian soils over Ironstone and Granite, and one in the south on clay loams over mudstone. Winemaker David Anderson and son Liam have a flair for producing extraordinarily rich and powerful wines that rank as some of Heathcote’s best.

Matured in both French and American oak hogsheads for 22 months, 45% of which were new. Magnificent depth of colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Heady aromas of liquorice allsorts, blackberry and dark plum waft out of the glass with supporting notes of vanillin oak, mocha and spice. Decadently rich, powerful and possessing a thick lush texture, the palate is awash with opulent liquorice, black cherry, blackberry and dark plum flavours underscored by nuances of vanillin oak, traces of mocha and spice. Velvet smooth yet structured tannin framework. Superb power with a very long and lavish aftertaste that’s dripping in black fruits.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 15.6%
