2016 Warrabilla Reserve Durif

A monstrous Durif possessing thunderous power and off the charts richness.

Amazing super saturated colour featuring an impenetrable dense black core that clings like paint to the walls of the glass with an equally deep black dark purple hue. The nose offers up a potent sniff of Morello cherries, black plums and liquorice that sings from the glass over vanillin cedar, hints of tar and spice. Boasting enormous weight and massive volume in the mouth this ultra rich Durif should carry a warning on the back label – ‘Handle with extreme care – Contains highly explosive liquid!’ Not for the faint of heart the palate dishes up a flavour combination of luscious black cherries, Morello cherries, black plums and liquorice followed by vanillin cedar and spice. Corralling in the decadently rich fruit and holding everything together is vibrant acidity and a robust tannin structure. Incredible power with a very long aftertaste of ripe Morello cherries, black plums, liquorice and spicy vanillin oak.
