The ‘Heinrich’ is a tribute wine to winemakers Rolf and Christa’s father, Rolf Heinrich Binder as he loved to work with these three great Barossa varietals. The final wine is blend of 64% Shiraz, 19% Grenache and 17% Mataro with maturation taking place in a mixture of new and old, predominately American but also some French oak.
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Exotically scented, the nose offers up powerful aromatics of dark raspberry, dark cherry, liquorice and vanillin oak with subtle dark chocolate, earth and spice notes also evident. The palate is flush with rich, lavishly textured dark raspberry, dark cherry and liquorice fruits that possess terrific intensity and have a silky feel. Also chiming in are elements of vanillin oak, earth and spicy pepper. Smooth, cashmere like tannins with a very long aftertaste that’s highly moreish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
