2016 was one of the most compact growing seasons the Valley has experienced. A warm spring followed by a warmer than average Summer forced an acceleration of ripening process but also a retention of fresh acidity due to the cool nights resulting in Pinots with plenty of ripe, generous characters. Twenty percent of the fruit was whole bunch fermented with maturation taking place in a mixture of new (30%) and seasoned French oak hogsheads for 9 months.

Semi translucent dark red colour with a crimson hue. Fragrant scents of ripe red cherries and strawberries are overlaid by subtle dried clove notes, cedar and spice. Light in body but possessing superb length the palate boasts a delicious flavour profile of ripe dark cherries and strawberries intermixed with some dried herbs, a touch of meatiness and spicy cedar. A very savoury drinking experience that finishes fresh with good lively acidity and finely grained tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, strawberries, subtle dried herbs, some meatiness and spicy cedar.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
