2016 Riversdale Estate Syrah

Displays a very youthful purple black tinged core with a vibrant purple red hue. Freshly crushed red and dark cherry aromas meld into some inky earth like characters, a light smokiness and spicy fresh herb notes. Light to medium weight and very fresh the palate has energetic flavours of freshly crushed cherries, some liquorice, violet infusions and lightly smoked earth with a dry inky finish and crunchy acidity. The tannins are still a little chalky at this early stage. Concludes with freshly crushed berry flavours, a touch of liquorice, violet infusions and inky earth like characters. Comes across as an Aussie version of Beaujolais utilising Syrah instead of Gamay.
