2016 Reillys R Shiraz

A long time customer favourite, Reillys R Shiraz never fails to over deliver. Produced from a blend of the best fruit off the 18 year old St Clare vineyard and a parcel from the Home Block, the fruit from the 50 year old dry grown Home Block vineyard, making up around 20% of blend, adds depth to the wine. All parcels of fruit are basket pressed, then the wine spends 18 months in French oak barrels.

Displays Reillys trademark inky black colour saturation with an equally deep dark red black hue. Potent ripe black cherry, liquorice and blackberry aromas fill the nostrils with vanillin oak and spicy pepper notes ensuing. Formidable in size and lavishly rich, a tidal wave of ripe black cherry, liquorice and blackberry flavours relentlessly bombard the palate leaving in their wake vanillin oak and spicy pepper elements. Supporting the decadent black fruits is a sturdy wall of tannins that impart some chewiness to the otherwise opulent mouthfeel and give the back palate some muscle and grip. Excellent power concluding with a long chewy aftertaste of ripe black cherries, liquorice, black cherries, vanillin oak and pepper.
