2016 Pyrette Heathcote Shiraz

Matured for 1 year in French oak. Impenetrable inky black purple colour with a deep dark purple hue. Freshly crushed blackberry, plum and liquorice scents collide with toasty vanillin cedar, faint earth and pepper notes. Rich and vibrant the palate dishes up succulent red dark plum, liquorice and fresh blackberry flavours over vanillin oak, earthy crushed rock-like characters and black pepper. Finishes dry with bright acidity and slightly chalky tannins providing some grip. Spicy dark plum, fresh blackberry, liquorice, vanillin cedar, crushed rock and black pepper aftertaste. Looking very young at present this is in need of some cellaring to soften out around the edges.
