2016 Powell & Son Schulz Shiraz

Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Koonuga Hill district. Super saturated impenetrable inky black colour with an equally deep dark purple black hue. Powerful aromas of violets, black cherry liqueur, liquorice and fresh dark plum laced with fennel waft from the glass overlaying smoky vanillin cedar, hints of dried clove and blackpepper. Full bodied, lavish ripe blackberry, black cherry and liquorice flavours laced with smoky vanillin cedar and infusions of dried clove flood the mouth over some earth and blackpepper. Opulent with firm robust tannins lending some chewiness to the mouthfeel. Outstanding power and depth with a long spicy ripe blackberry, black cherry, liquorice, dried clove, earthy vanillin cedar, smoked meats and blackpepper aftertaste.
