Gerhard Pittnauer took to running his family estate at the tender age of 18 and learned on the job. 20 years on he and wife Brigitte run the vineyard along biodynamic principles, and Gerhard was recently named Austrian winemaker of the year.
Pittnauer’s Pitti is an interesting blend of Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt grapes that balances generous youthful fruit against a bit of tannin grip and bright acidity. Opaque dark red colour with a purple red hue. Earthy ripe red cherry and red liquorice scents intermix with some dried clove and spicy smoked meats. Light to medium weight, bright red fruit flavours are married to notions of clove, inky earth and spicy dried herbs. Finishes dry with plenty of crunchy like acidity and slightly assertive chalky like tannins. Aftertaste of spicy red cherries, smoky earth, dried meats and infusions of dried herbs. A light, elegant and structured blend with plenty of crunchy red fruits.
Cellar 2-3 years.
Alc. 13%
