Moorooduc Estate, planted in 1982, was one of the first to be established on the Mornington Peninsula by Richard and Jill McIntyre. With yields of less than 2 tons per acre and the fruit 100% destemmed the resultant wine was matured in French oak with 25% being new for a period of 17 months.
Good depth of colour for Pinot displaying a dark red core with black tinged edges and a light red hue. Sailing out of the glass are perfumed aromatics of violet laced dark cherries, strawberries, anise, light toasty oak, forest floor elements and spice. Delicious spicy dark cherry and strawberry flavours fill the supplely textured palate overlaying anise, subtlety toasted cedar, forest floor and traces of dried herbs. Superb power wave. Velvet smooth tannins, finely tuned acidity and a long savoury aftertaste complete the picture.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
