Winemaker Pierrick Laroche currently sells off much of what he produces to Negociants, holding back an increasing volume of fruit each year to produce his own wines. The premier cru Beauroy is a new addition to his range. The wines are mostly raised in steel (a small amount of wood is used for the top wines), undergo full malolactic, and rest on their lees throughout their élevage.
Bright pale straw colour with a watery hue. Refined aromas of ripe pear, citrus and a hint of green apple show good lift over a slatey back drop with notions reminiscent of green herbs and mineral also chiming in. Light to medium bodied with a feeling of freshness to the pear, citrus and subtle green apple fruits that sit over wet slate and flinty mineral characters. There’s a faint creaminess to the mid palate. Finishes dry with crisp acidity. Long aftertaste of pears, citrus, wet slate, light cashew, flinty mineral and a pinch of green herbs.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
