2016 M. Chapoutier Les Vignes de Bila-Haut Cotes du Roussillon Villages

Matured for 9 months in French oak with a large percentage of whole bunch included. Excellent colour displaying a totally opaque black dark purple core with a dark purple black tinged hue. Pronounced black raspberry and liquorice aromas laced with provincial herbs are followed by hints of black cherry, scorched earth and blackpepper. Medium bodied the palate is filled with rich juicy black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice flavours which are all infused with blackpepper. Elements of scorched earth and spicy dried herbs make an appearance on the back palate. There’s plenty of freshness on the finish with muscular tannins imparting a structural feel. Long spicy pepper infused aftertaste of black fruits and scorched earth.
