- ABV 14.5%
- Closure: Stelvin
Matured in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads for 15 months. Totally opaque midnight black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Elevated black cherry and liquorice scents merge into some earth with an undercard of vanillin cedar, hints of dried meats and pepper. Full bodied the palate is awash with rich ripe black cherry, liquorice and blackberry flavours which sit over vanillin cedar, some subtle earthy meatiness and blackpepper. Dryish finish with chewy, well constructed tannins. Long spicy black cherry, liquorice, blackberry, vanillin cedar, subtle earth and pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
The Yakka vineyard has been a good performer over the years.
Plush but cool, if that makes sense. It’s not baked or thick; it’s juicy and lively, though the fruit is ripe and indeed has some sweetness. Happy days. Plums, red cherries, sawdust, cloves and woodsmoke. A splash of dry herbs, but not in an overt way. This wine will appeal to those who enjoy lashings of shiraz fruit but don’t mind a bit of elegance. A bit of finesse. Tannin continue that latter theme. The word latticework comes to mind. It’s an excellent release. Drink 2019-2032+
