A blend of 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in American and French oak barriques for 20 months. The name ‘Bernoota’ was the original name given to the homestead on the Lake Breeze property – it is Aboriginal for ‘camp among the gum trees’. First made in 1992 the Bernoota has an extraordinary show record with every vintage having won at least one gold medal, winemaker Greg Follett rating the 2016 vintage as the best since the 2012.

Rich, plush and seductive yet with a sturdy underbelly

Impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Intoxicating aromatics of blackberry, liquorice, cassis and choc mint are underpinned by vanillin cedar and spice. Rich with a seductive feel, the medium to full bodied palate is awash with ripe blackberry, liquorice and plum fruit. Choc mint, vanillin cedar, subtle earth and spice then chime in for added interest. Opulently textured with underlying sturdy tannins providing structure. Excellent depth with a long blackberry, liquorice, ripe plum, subtle choc mint, vanillin cedar and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
