Kelvedon Estate has been in the Cotton Family’s hands since 1829. Over 12,000 acres in size, it is one of the largest land holdings on the east coast of Tasmania. In the mid-nineties Jack Cotton’s friend Ed Carr, winemaker at Arras, noticed a section of the property would be perfect for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which led to the family to diversify into viticulture in 1998. Today the bulk of the fruit is sold to Hardy’s which they use in the production of Arras sparklings and Eileen Hardy Chardonnay.

A very perfumed Pinot with a delicious supplely textured palate that possesses great power.

Semi translucent bright dark red colour with black tinged edges and a crimson red hue. Perfumed aromas of violets, dark cherries and plum subtlety laced with anise blossom from the glass overlaying a background of dried meats and lightly smoked spicy cedar. Supple and lithe the palate possesses beautiful richness of fruit and outstanding power. Mouthfilling flavours of ripe dark cherries and plums delicately infused with violets flow lightly across the palate with effortless ease. Underscoring the fruit are nuances of meatiness, spicy cedar and faint dried herbs. The glowing ripe fruit largely concealing the velvet smooth tannins and vibrant acidity. Superb depth with a lengthy finish of lightly spiced dark cherries, fresh ripe plums, some meatiness, subtle dried herbs and spicy cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
