- Cellar Drink Now - 6 years (2020-2026)
- ABV 14%
- Closure: Cork
Made from a blend of 82% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 3% Syrah with maturation taking place in large oak barrels for approximately 12 months.
Deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Intense ripe dark to black currant and dark cherry aromas are matched up with earth, old cedar, dried herbs, tobacco, hints of leather and spice. The delicious medium bodied palate is blessed with rich red to dark currant and cherry fruits which have a fleshy feel. Subtle elements of earth, old cedar, dried herbs, tobacco and spice sit beneath. There’s a sturdiness to the tannins yet they come across as very refined and quite polished. Excellent depth with a long and savoury aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Broad and complex, delivering plum, black cherry, almond, leather and earth flavors. The tannins are dusty and well-integrated, while vibrant acidity keeps the flavors pumping through the long finish. Best from 2021 through 2036.
Here's a great value from Tuscany. The 2016 Chianti Classico opens to a stream of pretty aromas, with cherry, blue flower and potting soil at the front line. The wine is made with 82% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 3% Syrah. The fruit is fermented in stainless steel, and the wine ages in oak for a brief seven months. The effect is streamlined and compact, and the wine's natural freshness gives way to wild cherry, cassis and plum. Drink 2019-2026.
