Co-fermented with 3% Voignier. Impenetrable black as night core with a bright dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced dark plum, blackberry and liquorice aromas meld into subtle smoky vanillin cedar, some meatiness and spicy pepper. Full bodied and amply endowed with richness, yet refined in its opulence the palate is caressed with dark plum, ripe blackberry and liquorice fruit that has an understated power. Spicy vanillin cedar, subtle wood smoke, fennel and pepper elements sit beneath. Velvet like yet well-structured tannins and perfectly balanced acidity provide the framework. Concludes with a lengthy finish of dark plum, blackberry, liquorice, lightly toasted vanillin cedar, fennel and spicy pepper.
