This wine was aged for 13 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Semi translucent bright dark red core with a slight tinge of black around the outskirts and a vivid crimson red hue. Very perfumed nose offering up a combination of violets, ripe cherries, strawberries and plums which intermesh with anise, spicy cedar and faint hints of stalk. Light on its feet and supple in the mouth yet rich and powerful, this Pinot possesses great poise and balance. Gracing the palate are flavours of ripe dark cherries, plums, strawberries and anise which sit over a backdrop of spicy cedar, a touch of meatiness and traces of dried clove. Superb drive and length with velvet smooth tannins seamlessly integrated to the fruit. Elegant yet very powerful with a long savoury aftertaste of spicy dark cherries, plum, strawberries, anise, lightly toasted cedar, traces of meatiness and dried cloves.
Cellar 6-8 years.
