The appellation of Lirac is just across from Chateauneuf du Pape on the right bank of the Rhone. Not surprisingly, it shares many features of its prestigious neighbour, such as weather patterns and geology, with the added benefit of a few of its own variances and nuances. Considered as one of the "locomotives" in Lirac , Domaine Maby has for long been at the forefront of modernisation in both the cellar and vineyards and are always pursuing new paths to further refine their style.

A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. Superb colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark purple black hue. Powerful ripe black cherry, liquorice and black raspberry aromas overlay scorched earth, dried meats and spicy blackpepper notes. Dense and concentrated the richly textured palate is bursting with succulent black cherry, black raspberry and liquorice flavours which intermingle with elements of scorched earth, subtle infusions of incense, some meatiness and pepper. Chewy yet opulent mouthfeel with sturdy tannins providing the framework. Outstanding power with a long rich fruit soaked aftertaste of black cherries, liquorice, scorched earth, dried meats and pepper.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 15%

Other Reviews….
A wine that’s going to top out the value scale is the 2016 Lirac Nessun Dorma and this blend of Grenache and Syrah sports a deep, inky color as well as terrific notes of black fruits, chocolate, smoked herbs, and licorice. Ripe, full-bodied, with low acidity and ripe tannin, it’s a high-class fruit bomb to drink over the coming 4-5 years.
