A blockbuster Grenache that displays an impenetrable black dark red core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Intense ripe black cherry and black raspberry scents dominate the nose with some liquorice also chipping in. Notions of light scorched earth, hints of incense and spice follow. On the palate this large scaled Grenache is bursting with black fruits and shows great purity. Rich, seductive black cherry, black raspberry and liquorice flavours sit over a backdrop of lightly scorched earth, subtle dried herbs and spicy pepper. Very powerful and concentrated with an opulent textural feel and ripe chewy tannins. Seriously lengthy finish of succulent black cherries, black raspberries, liquorice, earthy incense and spicy pepper.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 15%

Other Reviews….
Not yet bottled, the 2016 Lirac Bel Canto is primarily Grenache that was brought up in demi-muids (one-third new). It’s a downright sexy barrel sample that gives up lots of strawberry jam, darker berry fruits, peppery herbs, and licorice. It’s a terrific Grenache that offers full-bodied richness, ripe, sweet tannin, and a rocking mid-palate. It will shine on release and keep through 2026.
