Displays impressive depth of colour with an impenetrable pitch black core and a deep dark red black tinged hue. Potent black cherry and liquorice aromas laced with white pepper evolve from the glass followed by notions of graphite, infusions of fresh herbs, subtle scorched earth and spice. Rich, dense and well sculptured with a stern meaty feel, the palate is flooded with black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice flavours which are underpinned by scorched earth, notions of graphite, herbs and spicy blackpepper. Ripe chewy tannins with good vibrancy finishing long and powerful with loads of rich peppery fruit.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews….
Nearly as great as the Fleur, the 2016 Rasteau Cuvee Confiance is 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Raspberry and mint notes appear on the nose, followed by a full-bodied, rich, velvety wine with a never-ending finish. Despite the incredible richness and concentration, the wine remains fresh and fragrant, lithe and agile, turning silky and lingering. It's another tremendous effort from the Romero family. Drink 2019-2030.

Joe Czerwinski – Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate

Based on Grenache (there’s some Syrah and Mourvèdre in the blend) aged in foudre, the 2016 Rasteau Cuvée Confiance offers a more elegant, medium to full-bodied style that’s going to age beautifully. Terrific notes of cedar wood, dried garrigue, and ample red and black fruits all flow to a medium to full-bodied, silky Rasteau that has building tannins and impressive depth of fruit. It has a good 10-15 years ahead of it. Drink 2018-2033.
