2016 Dame De Bourad

A blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Midnight black at its core with a deep bright dark red black tinged hue. The nose displays aromas of fresh black cherries and blackcurrant which have a light dusty cedar overlay followed by some earth and fresh herb notes. Inky in their feel across the medium weighted palate are rich blackcurrant and liquorice flavours with scorched earth, vanillin cedar and spicy tobacco elements sitting underneath. Dry, slightly grippy finish with firm chewy tannins and a medium length aftertaste.

This has very attractive violets, plums and purple fruit on offer with a very plush and elegant feel on the palate, as well as a polished and long aftertaste. Super long and elegant. Very polished. 60 per cent merlot and 40 per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2023.
