Still family owned and operated, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 40+ years and now involves their daughter, Emma who has taken on the winemaking role whilst Doug is looking after the viticultural side of things. The Estate consists of 33 hectares of vines planted on the prized Coonawarra Terra Rosa soils. Established in 1972, the first vintage in 1975 was greeted with considerable enthusiasm.

Packed with rich, powerful fruit and backed by a robust framework this is a great Bowen Estate Cabernet.

Magnificent colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark purple black hue. Powerfully scented ripe blackcurrant aromas link up with black cherry and liquorice over a back drop of lightly toasted vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Rich, intensely concentrated blackcurrant and black cherry flavours flood the mouth with underlying liquorice, cedary tobacco characters, vanillin spice and subtle earth elements. Dense and powerful, ripe chewy tannins firm up the finish, giving the wine a sturdy framework and robust yet opulent mouthfeel. Excellent length with a prolonged ripe blackcurrant, black cherry, liquorice, vanillin cedar, subtle earthy tobacco and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc. 15%

Other Reviews....
The 2016 Coonawarra vintage was a ripper, and the miracle is that this wine’s price is still under AUD $40 and has barely risen over the years. Deep, dark youthful red/purple, with a powerful blackberry aroma neatly augmented by fine oak. Very full-bodied, firm and structured. Great persistence; awesome power. (Screwcap)
