2016 Boekenhoutskloof Syrah

Impenetrable inky black at its core with a deep dark purple red hue. A touch restrained, nosing reveals aromas of dark cherries infused with graphite followed by dried meats, scorched earth, a hint of liquorice and white pepper. Much more forthcoming, the full bodied palate is laden with rich dark to black cherry and liquorice fruit which is supported by scorched earth, dried meats, graphite like characters, black olives and spicy pepper. Slightly dryish finish with a stern yet balanced tannin structure and vibrant acidity. Medium to long aftertaste. Give it a few more years to unwind.
