Other Reviews....
Higher, younger plots on the Bindi vineyard. Kaye continues the journey ’round the Bindi back garden. I feel less experienced with Kaye than other Bindi pinot noirs, this wine again proved hard to get a handle on. It feels quite distinctly lavished with oak, where the other pinots find that as seasoning or subdued. Scents are malty, fig and date enriched, show whiffs of stewed forest berry and a scant sprig or two of green herb and gum leaf. Flavours register more malt and dark chocolate, ripe and dried fruit, walnut and clove, though the texture feels supple up front and laden with a light web of fruit tannins, though the finish squeaks and creaks a bit under drying, woodier notes. A wine finding some maturity and depth, perhaps, and maybe in a phase that needs more benign decay than urgency to drink. Stay the course?
