Cellar: Drink now - 6 Years (2018-2024)

Sourced from West Cape Howe’s best blocks of Mount Barker Cabernet Sauvignon this wine was matured for 18 months in a selection of new and older French oak barriques and then given a further 12 months bottle age before being released.

A splendid Cabernet redolent in red and black currant fruits with a lengthy finish and showing plenty of finesse.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red hue. Wonderful nose with aromatics of red to black currants laced with dried herbs, bay leaf and cedary tobacco characters flow effortlessly from the glass. Hints of black olive and spice are also evident. Medium to full bodied, rich red and ripe blackcurrant flavours engulf the mouth, beautifully integrating with cedar, subtle infusions of tobacco, black olives, spicy dried herbs and bay leaf. A sturdy underbelly of finely grained tannins provide the framework. Marvellous length finishing with a long aftertaste of spicy red and black currants, dried herbs, faint black olive, cedary tobacco characters and bay leaf. A delight to drink now, this will also easily cellar a further 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Other Reviews…
A selection of the best parcels of grapes from West Cape Howe's oldest vineyards in Mount Barker, matured for 18 months in French oak. The bright colour and purity of the fruit on the bouquet set the antennae waving, the palate cast in the same mould, with purity its middle name. Red and blackcurrant fruit provides the full menu for first class entertainment. Drink by 2030.
